A Pantone Colour is Not Just For a Year
The Pantone Colour of the Year 2022 is a brand new colour they just created. Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri, is a violet-red infused blue hue, which reflects the evolving landscape of life. As quoted on the The Pantone Color Institute website "A New Pantone Colour Whose Courageous Presence Encourages Personal Inventiveness And Creativity."
It is a colour which has become increasingly popular in Richard Heeps' artworks. At the end of last year 'NOMAD' and 'Brutalist Symphony', which showcase this inspiring colour, were his November and December 2021 bestselling artworks.
Trend and trend forecasting used to be primarily fashion focused in everyday life but since the rise of instagram, trends in every genre have become a buzz. Insight into trend forecasting comes from many areas and the Pantone Colour of the Year is always hotly anticipated and a huge point of discussion. The choice is often contentious but once it's announced you begin to notice it everywhere, even where it might have already been before.
Buying art should not be a trend, although you might be subconsciously influenced by trends, art should be intended as a lifetime purchase which can be relocated as your life evolves.
Looking back over the past ten years of Pantone Colours we have paired with Richard Heeps artworks, which certainly would bring you joy for a lifetime, whatever the future trends.
2021 Pantone Colour of the Year was a colour pairing of Ultimate Gray and Illuminating - paired here with Richard Heeps, 'Yellow Corridor' (Night), from his series, 'A Short History of Milan'. This artwork is cinematic and has depth leading the mind to wander into story creating, just as Pantone said of this colour pairing "It is a story of colour that encapsulates deeper feelings of thoughtfulness".
2020 Pantone Colour of the Year was Classic Blue - Paired here with 'Chair', from Richard Heeps series 'Ordinary Places'. Blue is a major feature in Richard's work so any number could be selected to match this colour of the year, it was hard to choose one but you can explore more in the collection Shades of Blue.
