Box Brownie
Kodak Brownie Flash II Camera, made in England by Kodak Limited London. Introduced 1957 - Discontinued 1960.
This was my parents camera and was the camera I took my first picture on around the age of seven, a family snap of my brother and parents sitting in front of a Martello Tower in Eastbourne in the 1970's.
When I began my autobiographical series 'A View of the Fens from the Car With Wings', inspired by Sunday drives with my family as a child I decided to use their old Box Brownie camera. Having studied photography for five years where I had learned to be very precise and in control of everything, it was liberating to use the point and shoot. I love the lo-fi effect it had on the imagery.
